Last week we’ve seen one of the most tragic events of the year, when Adam Raza killed 28 people, including 20 kids in Newtown, Connecticut. According to many media, the murderer was suffering from a mild form of autism. Experts however say there is no connection between the disorder and violence. But how about the numbers of common mental disorders? It is estimated that about 25% of the Americans suffer from one or more disorders. Here’s a list of most common mental disorders in the USA.

  6. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) – 9,0 million
  7. Avoidant Personality Disorder – 11,4 million
  8. Major Depressive Disorder – 14,8 million
  9. Social Phobia – 15,0 million
  10. Specific Phobia – 19,2 million
